Chase Ink Bold

The Chase Ink Bold is a business charge card that is the keystone card in the Vanilla Ink Bold strategy. The benefits for this card are:
  • The current promotion is 50k Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months.
    • Normally, the promo is a spend of $10,000 in three months, so get it now!
    • 50k UR points are basically worth ~$500, but you can always find more efficient ways of spending the points.
  • 5x points per dollar spent at office stores or on utilities like cell phone/landlines, internet and cable.
  • 2x points for dining and gas. 1 point per dollar for everything else.
If used correctly, you can earn a crazy amount of UR points that can be used on various airlines and hotels.

Other perks to this card include:
  • 1:1 transfer to the following reward programs:
    • British Airways (Avios)
    • United Airlines
    • Southwest Airlines
    • Korean Air
    • Amtrack
    • Hyatt
    • Marriott
    • Priority Club
    • Ritz-Carlton
  • Two free lounge passes for the Lounge club, which you can register there after calling Chase and getting your promo code. Each visit after will cost you $27.
  • No Foreign transaction fees.
  • $95 annual fee waived for the first year.
Theres a couple differences about this card and the others we have written about.
  • This is a business card, meaning you technically have to own a business to apply for it. But even if you had a lemonade stand once over the summer, that qualifies as a business.
  • This is a charge card, not a credit card. Meaning that you have no option of financing your charges over each month, that means you HAVE to pay off each month in full. Like mentioned in Credit Basics page, if you cannot pay in full each month you should not be in this game anyways.
We mentioned above that this is the card used for the Vanilla Ink Bold strategy. Along with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you can now have two Chase UR points earning cards and transfer points from one account to the other. Again the minimum spend requirement is $5,000 in 3 months until the end of the year. It will most likely go back up to the original $10,000 spend in 3 months, but with Bluebird that still should not be a problem.
