NBC Video: Mileage Running to Achieve Elite Status

Hate over paying for bland airport food or sitting in tight quarters with no leg room? Even worse, the long lines during the holiday season? See why some people actively spend weekends flying to exotic locations to not even leave the airport. Check out this video interview of some of the more experienced bloggers and travel hackers.

Good interview on the term mileage running, where people will find the longest flown miles for the cheapest prices to achieve elite status for the next year. For one weekend they'll put up with the worse conditions to cap off their flown miles for the year, so that the following year, they can enjoy priority access through security, free upgrades to first class, and airport lounges with free food, alcohol and showers!

As of now these mileage runners usually comprise of people who mainly travel for business, which means they already have a lot of in-seat miles. For us who work daily jobs, this is a lot harder and a lot less cost effective to do.
